Post-snow Performance of Mafilon Active Anti-freezing Pavement (Pinggu District, Beijing, China)
On the early morning of December 14, 2023, Beijing had already experienced three consecutive days of heavy snowfall. The Pinggu area is located in the northeast of Beijing and the temperature is relatively low. We observed the performance of Mafilon’s active anti-freezing pavement surface during and after snowfall.
The video was shot at the intersection of two adjacent roads, Huqian Road and Misan Road, in the Pinggu area. Huqian Road is a branch road with low traffic flow, and the roadbed section is a normal road surface without Mafilon. The bridge pavement on the road applicated Mafilon active anti-freezing technology; Misan Road is a main road with heavy traffic flow, and the artificial snow removal work that night was relatively intensive. What we are comparing this time is the icing condition of the road surface after snowfall for the Huqian Road Bridge, the normal road surface of Huqian Road, and the Misan Road Bridge.
From the video, it can be clearly seen that although the road surface of Huqian Road Bridge was covered with snow, the snow layer and the road surface had not frozen, and there was no ice in the construction joints. The thermometer shows -12 ℃; On the normal road surface of Huqian Road, which is adjacent to the bridge, the snow layer had frozen with the road surface, and there was ice in the construction joints. The thermometer shows -7 ℃; Although there were several times of the scraper type snow removal vehicle operation, the construction joints of the Misan Road Bridge still had ice.
Mafilon can effectively inhibit road icing. In the case of continuous snowfall or failure to remove snow in a timely manner due to special reasons, Mafilon can make the snow layer easy to remove and improve the efficiency of snow and ice removal operations, greatly reducing the damage to the road surface caused by traditional snow and ice removal methods. It can also prevent the phenomenon of secondary icing on the road surface, effectively ensuring road safety and rapid traffic.
